Christmas Message from the Chairman

God wants every family to be a cradle of vocation, primarily Christian vocation. For each Christian is called to witness the kingdom values. Based on this call only, a woman or man is called to live with an undivided heart serving God and His people and not herself or himself.

The Babe of Bethlahem, Jesus, “increased in wisdom, in stature, and in favour with God and men”. There were his parents who helped him to grow both in body and in wisdom, and to gain favour with God and people. They had a sense of reverence, deep insight into the unseen world and total surrender to the Divine. Jesus as a young man picked up these graceful qualities. Consequently he was strengthened to abide by the will of the Father and to perform his ministry to his peole in such a way that the Father proclaimed, “You are my son, the beloved; my favour rests on you.”

It was not easy for our Mother Mary and St. Joseph to understand their own vocation as we listen to them in the Gospels. Yet they believed in every step of the Way. Hence we need to pray for all the families that the parents and the elders discern the Way through Scripture reading, prayer and awareness of God and neighbours. Also a thirst for service with a heart of love will develop a vocational environment for children.

May all of us - Priests and Religious - give the best gift to Jesus in the form of becoming another Jesus and continuing Jesus’ ministry this Christmas and 2011.

May we pray to his and our Mother Mary to behold him in all people irrespective of community and religion and listen to his voice and to live his values. God bless you!
With love and prayers,

+ Jude Paulraj
Bishop of Palayamkottai
